A Guide to Thrifting & Gifting (Queens County)

In this session, participants will learn about the growing popularity of thrifting for the purpose of gift-giving. The facilitator will share tips for sourcing pre-loved items, assessing their value/worth, and packaging them for gift-giving. Students will also learn how to combine thrifted items with items sourced from locally-owned businesses, to create gifts that are creative, thoughtful and impactful.

Nicole is a long-time lover of thrift stores, and a champion of locally-owned businesses. She believes in thrifting and buying local first, buying new and big box last. She loves the thrill of treasure hunting at thrift stores and antique shops, and she enjoys giving discarded items new purpose. Her home is filled with antiques and pre-loved things that exude character and charm. In 2023, she decided to take her passion for thrifting to the next level by becoming a reseller on Poshmark. She chronicles her adventures in thrifting on Instagram (@bellefleurcottagepei). She works for the provincial government, and she runs a charity that funds programs for at-risk kids and youth in Ethiopia. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Diploma in Public Administration from the University of Prince Edward Island, and a certificate in Board Member Training from Holland College. Nicole and her young daughter live in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. They love to explore the Island and travel the world!
