Line Dancing (Level 1 - Beginners) (Queens County)

Line Dancing shares many steps, counts, and styling found in other dance genres and is a super fun way to keep your body, mind, and heart healthy while having a great time! Level 1 - Beginners is an Introduction to Line Dancing and is a great session for those new to line dancing and anyone who wants to improve their current skills, with the focus on learning basic steps, patterns, beginner dances, and having a lot of fun!

RequirementsWillingness to learn and try something new and have fun! Comfortable clothing, water, clean indoor footwear, with a smooth type sole, highly recommended.
ObjectivesShare the benefits of line dancing as a form of exercise for our mind, heart and body! We’ll learn the basics of line dancing, including how to do various steps, how to read a step sheet, counting, patterns, and the diversity of line dances that can be done solo, in lines, circles, contra and with a partner. And most of all, have a whole lot of fun doing it!
Teaching ProcessTeach the steps, counts, patterns, and names for various line dances. Try dances in different ways and to different music. Follow up after each new teach with Links to on-line steps sheets and videos so students can practice and dance in between classes. Check in with students often to see how they’re doing and if any modifications are needed.

Margot has had the pleasure of sharing her passion for line dancing for the past 20 years through classes, workshops, theme parties, dances, weddings, and fundraisers with dancers aged 5 to 87. She has choreographed routines for couples and groups and has been a part of events all over the Island. She was super pleased to have 10 dancers from her Spring 2025 College class join her for the first ever PEI celebration of International Line Dance Day!
