Seniors College 25th Anniversary Recognition Tea

The Honourable Antoinette Perry, Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island, recently hosted a 25 year anniversary recognition tea for Seniors College of PEI representatives and invited guests.
Those in attendance included the Board of Directors, course facilitators, invited members, Seniors College sponsor representatives, and special guests, founding members and early builders of Seniors College.
Her Honour, the patron of Seniors College, welcomed members and guests to Fanningbank. She congratulated the college on the 25 year milestone and the contribution Seniors College has made to the learning and social enjoyment of Island seniors since the beginning.
Shirley Pierce, President of Seniors College, thanked Her Honour for hosting the gathering and welcomed invited guests. She extended special thanks to all who have been instrumental in building and continuing the Seniors College program over the years. As well, she acknowledged new Seniors College sponsors who have been generous with their support of our program.
She then gave a brief overview of Seniors College history from initial concept to now, referencing significant events and changes since the first three courses were offered in Fall 1998.
Hon. Barb Ramsay, PEI Minister of Social Development and Seniors, brought greetings from the government and spoke of their ongoing commitment and support for Island seniors.
Olive Bryanton, the first Board President and an active Seniors College member, spoke about the early days of the College and changes and successes over the years.
Following the speakers, members and guests were invited to have refreshments, mix and mingle, and celebrate 25 years of Seniors College of PEI.
